This morning I opened up my kitchen window and smelled the sweet perfume of my lilac...shrub/tree. It is rather small. We planted it two years ago and this is the first time I have had blossoms. The smell brings back so many memories from my childhood.
When I was young, I lived in Littleton Colorado. We had a swamp cooler that came in through my parents bedroom window. Surrounding that swamp cooler was the biggest, most fragrant lilac tree I have ever seen. I used to pick them for my mom (who couldn't keep them in the house because of allergies). Occasionally I put them in my hair. Sometimes I even took them to school for my teacher.
Thank you David for my lilacs.
