More Crusty News of our New York Trip

Day 3: We drove into New York City and discovered that it is expensive to drive into the city and that once you are there it is expensive to park. We also discovered that driving in the city quite sucks. We vowed not to drive there again if we could help it. We met my Dad and Brother and his wife Apple near Central Park and went to the museum of natural history. It was huge and we barely scratched the surface. We had hot dogs in Central Park and went rowing on the lake there. The kids liked the lake the best.

Day 4: We got together again with Dad, Justin, and Apple and went on one of the bus tours of the city. It was HOT! The kids about melted. They also melted down a few times. We ate some great New York style pizza and Heather was thrilled when Anya wet her pants while sitting on her lap. Joy! No change of clothes! More meltdowns were had. A stray fist or two even flew! Toward me! Not the kid. Well I guess that is as it should be. Anyway as we had tickets to see the Little Mermaid that night, and we didn't have time to get home to change clothes. We got to go shopping in NYC! Dream come true right? Heather could have been happier about it. She did get to go to her favorite store though to get the new outfit. A bit later, drier, and better smelling we left Anya and Hyrum in the care of dear old grampa and headed off to see the Little Mermaid, which we thought was great! Times Square was so bright when we left the theater and found the subway.

Day 5: We went to the Empire State Building and to FAO Schwartz and saw the famous giant piano and got to play it a bit. Grandpa Sycamore went home halfway through the day. We went back to Central Park for a little bit, and then we found the Manhatten Temple, which was harder to do than we though. Finally we were getting a bit tired and headed home early.

Here are some pics of the trip. Enjoy!

Our Trip to New York and Washington DC

It has already been a month since we went, and I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures from the trip. Pretty good eh? Hopefully you will still enjoy them despite their slight crustiness from old age.

A Brief rundown:

Day 1:We drove to Kirtland, OH. There we saw the normal church history stuff including the Kirtland Temple which was pretty interesting. The kids especially liked the grounds around the temple. We spent part of this day with Heather's Sister Elizabeth and her family. Fun was had by all. Cousins rejoiced and so forth.

Day 2: We made it to Palmayra and discovered such church history sites as Joseph Smith's home and the nearby Sacred Grove. It was pretty hot and the kids did not enjoy the Grove as much as Heather and I did. It was one of Heather's dreams to make it here. Mission accomplished. We also showed the kids the Hill Cumorah, and I got to talk a little about my experience being in the pageant that they do there every year. We picnicked at the top and enjoyed the wind.
