Swine Flu

The schools here had us sign forms so that all the children could be vaccinated against swine flu. The vaccines never showed up - but the swine flu did. Bethany was the first to come down with it, then Hyrum, then Daylin, and finally Anya. Hyrum had it the worst with a fever for four days. Daylin only had symptoms for a few hours. Gratefully, David and I didn't come down with it.

I think the most interesting part of this experience is learning what it feels like when nobody outside of the home wants anything to do with you! I felt like a social pariah and after a week and a half of sick kids, I wanted out! I wanted to go talk to other people, but if they heard my child cough, they backed away. Everything I did during the week had to be canceled because we had the flu in our homes.

To be honest, the flu wasn't that bad - but then, I didn't get it.

This is what our sick house looked like one Saturday afternoon.
